I am seeing strapless cocktail dresses every where in all sorts of bright colours and patterns and draped shapes. The lengths of these mini dresses vary from micro minis to just above the knee. It doesn’t realy matter what length they are as long as they are above the knee and make a statement in some way. These dresses can be worn without accessories for a minimalist look or with full on accessories for a more interesting look. The strapless neckline is just perfect for showing off one of this seasons bib style necklaces.

At Anna Sui - a bold white embroidered design on black gives a really eye catching look. The statement necklace and pom pom bag add to the interest of the outfit but don’t look too much because of the simple colour scheme.

The first thing to strike you about this strapless mini dress at Matthew Williamson is the gorgeous peach colour. The dress also has a great shape and interesting beaded pocket detail, really typical of Matthew Williamsons ethnic style.

At Roberto Cavalli - this dress has a delicate and feminine design. The shorter than short flared skirt and pocket detail make it a very sexy style.

This draped satin mini dress is very typical of the minimalist style at Calvin Klein. The draping of the material provide all of the interest that is needed. It is incredibly elegant and chic.

Peachy Peaches and Cream Outfits

I loved the peaches and cream outfits at the SS09 shows. Not only did they have the beautifully soft colours of peaches and cream but also the roundness of peaches. The colours are so stylish in a very understated way and work so well with the interesting shaped outfits. They had a very warm and fuzzy feel about them, just like a basket of peaches. By combining colours with a very neutral back ground like cream or beige the designers have let the colours really stand out on their own without any complications. This look works well with the lightest of light peachy pinks to brighter orange peach colours.

Petite women’s black dresses

For those ladies (like myself) who are vertically challenged or petite finding the right clothes can be a bit of a challenge. First there is the issue of finding the right size, whilst you may be a size 10 or 12, the lengths are much too long. Even if you manage to find something that is not too long or you are an excellent seamstress and take up the hem, it will no doubt be wrong in other ways like the waist is too low of the body too long. Even worse many clothes that are in fashion are just not made to flatter short people and drown them making them look even shorter.

For all of these reasons, I tend to buy my clothes from petite ranges where possible. The sizes are usually just right, the shoulders not too wide and the waistline sits in the right place. The clothes are also all designed with short people in mind so tend to have smaller patterns, be fairly fitted and be fairly simple styles. Whilst black dresses may sound a bit boring, they are great for the lengthening the body and can be accessorised in so many different ways. Try lots of beads, bangles, colourful handbags and shoes.

Holiday wear - the beach kaftan

If you are going on holiday this summer or even taking a trip to the beach, why not get yourself this summers must have beach wear - the beach kaftan. Sun tans and definitely sum burn are so last year (or perhaps even last decade). Armed with the full knowledge of the damage that over exposure can do to your skin, fashionistas are choosing to cover up with a kaften and sit under a parasol or tree for some shade.

Cheap Monday is one of my favourite online brands for jeans. But Cheap Monday recently showed their Spring 2010 collection and proved that, whilst they made their name for affordable designer denim, they are not just about denim. Infact their is quite a lot more about them than denim.

Just recently they brought London based Sofie-Ann Back back to her roots in Stockholm guaranteeing that Cheap Monday will continue with their innovation and diversion from the world of denim. The collection featured denim of course but the slashing and holes were also extended to other pieces of clothing including jumpers.

This year, I love these Cheap Monday trousers which are bold and eye catching. I would team them with an understated grey marl top and some retro trainers for a very original and stylish casual look.

Farrah Fawcett Style

It has been a very sad week for yet another celebrity known and much celebrated for her style and hair. Farrah Fawcett died last Thursday aged 62. She was probably most well known for her role in Charlies Angels. Her style of bell bottoms and jumpsuits became a huge trend in the seventies that is still very popular today. She really helped to define the look of a decade with her relaxed effortless style. Her style was at times casual and tomboyish and at other time elegant and sophisticated. Her long blond hair always looked amazing but natural.

Farrah’s style will most definitely live on!

One of the most recognised images of Farrah was on a skateboard with her wide bottomed jeans, nike trainers and red top. You can get this look by wearing these high waisted wide bottom jeans and these Nike trainers.
